Getting Started

How do I connect Stripe?

Go to Settings → General and click Connect Stripe. You'll be redirected to Stripe to authorize the connection.

Do I need a paid plan to start?

No! The free plan includes 10 affiliates and 1 campaign — enough to test everything.

How long does setup take?

Most users are live in under 10 minutes. Connect Stripe, create a campaign, add the tracking script, and you're ready.

Tracking

How long do cookies last?

30 days by default. You can configure this per campaign (up to 365 days).

What if a customer clicks multiple affiliate links?

The last click wins by default (last-touch attribution). The most recent affiliate gets credit.

What if cookies are blocked or cleared?

Use coupon codes — they always work regardless of cookies. Coupon attribution has the highest priority.

Does tracking work with ad blockers?

Yes. The tracking script uses first-party cookies which are not blocked by most ad blockers.

How do I test my integration?

  1. Create a test affiliate with code test123

  2. Visit yoursite.com?ref=test123

  3. Check window.promoteboost_referral in browser console

  4. Make a test purchase in Stripe test mode

  5. Verify the conversion appears in your dashboard

What Stripe events do you track?

  • checkout.session.completed — New sales

  • invoice.paid — Subscription renewals

  • charge.refunded — Refunds (cancels commission)

Commissions

When do commissions become payable?

After the payout term completes (default: net-30, meaning 30 days after the payout cycle). This protects against refunds and chargebacks.

What happens if a customer gets a refund?

The commission is automatically cancelled. If already paid, it's deducted from the affiliate's next payout.

Do you support recurring commissions?

Yes! For subscription products, affiliates can earn on every renewal — for a set number of months or lifetime.

Can I set different commission rates for different products?

Yes. In campaign settings, you can configure per-product commission rates.

What's a tiered commission?

Higher rates for top performers. Example: 15% for 0-10 sales, 20% for 11-50 sales, 25% for 51+ sales.

How are commissions calculated?

Based on the net sale amount (after Stripe fees and discounts). Example: $100 sale with 20% commission = $20.

Payouts

What payment methods are available?

PayPal is available now. Wise and bank transfers are coming soon.

Who pays PayPal fees?

You do. Affiliates receive the full commission amount.

What's the minimum payout?

Configurable per campaign. Default is $50. Set to $0 to pay any amount.

Can I automate payouts?

Yes! Enable auto-payout in Settings. Choose weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

What if an affiliate doesn't have PayPal?

They won't be included in payouts. They need to add their PayPal email in their portal settings.

What if a payout fails?

Failed payouts are marked in the history with the error reason. You can retry after the affiliate fixes the issue.

Affiliates

How do affiliates sign up?

They visit your portal link (e.g., your-company.promoteboost.com) and create an account.

Can I approve affiliates manually?

Yes. Enable "Require Approval" in campaign settings. You'll review each signup.

Can affiliates recruit other affiliates?

Yes, if you enable 2-tier commissions. They earn a percentage of their sub-affiliates' commissions.

How do affiliates get their referral link?

After signing up, they see it on their dashboard. They can copy it with one click.

Can affiliates have multiple codes?

Each affiliate gets one code per campaign. They can be in multiple campaigns.

Can I remove an affiliate?

Yes. Go to Affiliates → [Name] → Delete. Their pending commissions will be cancelled.

Campaigns

Can I have multiple campaigns?

Yes. Each campaign can have different commission rates, cookie durations, and settings.

What's the difference between campaigns?

Use multiple campaigns for different products, partner tiers, or promotional periods.

Can affiliates be in multiple campaigns?

Yes. They can have different links/codes for each campaign.

Portal

Can I use my own domain?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Add a CNAME record pointing to portal.promoteboost.com.

Can I remove PromoteBoost branding?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Enable "Hide Branding" in portal settings.

Can I customize the portal appearance?

Yes. Add your logo, set brand colors, and choose light or dark theme.

Technical

Is the tracking script fast?

Yes. It's under 5KB and loads asynchronously — no impact on page speed.

Does it work with SPAs (React, Vue, etc.)?

Yes. The script works with single-page applications.

Do you support server-side tracking?

Yes. You can pass the referral via Stripe metadata instead of using the client-side script.

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We don't share your data with third parties.

Billing

What plans are available?

  • Free — 10 affiliates, 1 campaign

  • Starter — 100 affiliates, 5 campaigns, $49/month

  • Pro — Unlimited, custom domain, white-label, $99/month

Can I change plans anytime?

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade in Settings → Subscription.

Is there a free trial?

The free plan is permanent — no credit card required. Paid plans have a 14-day money-back guarantee.
